AMBALA: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda condemned the militant attack on innocent people at a rally organised in Srinagar on Sunday in connection with the death anniversary of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi which is being observed as Anti-Terrorism Day all over the country. Addressing a largely attended commemoration meeting at the New Anaj Mandi here on Sunday evening, he paid glowing tributes to the late Rajiv Gandhi. The meeting was organised by the Haryana Power Minister and local Ambala City MLA, Venod Sharma, and attended by several Ministers and MLAs besides the local MP and Union Minister Selja. Banners and hoardings depicting photographs of the late Prime Minister had been put up all over the city. A local resident remarked that such a massive turn-out had never been witnessed in the New Anaj Mandi so far. Normally rallies and public meetings in Ambala City are held in this grain market, according to Rajan Guglani, Municipal Councillor. Mr. Hooda and other speakers described the late Rajiv Gandhi as the architect of modern India who gave due importance to Panchayati Raj institutions. Mr.Hooda described the Srinagar attack as a cowardly act aimed at derailing the peace process initiated by the UPA Government in J and K. Such vain attempts to disturb the peace would neither deter the high morale of the security forces nor of the peace loving people.
