NEW DELHI: The second phase of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) helpline will start from this coming Tuesday and continue up to June 6. An important feature of the counselling is that the students will be able to contact 37 principals, trained counsellors of CBSE-affiliated Government as well as private schools, besides psychologists from Delhi, Chandigarh, Meerut, Noida, Jaipur, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Kolkata and Hosur. During the same period, the CBSE helpline will also be operational in Dubai and Kolkata. Introduced in 1998, the CBSE tele-counselling service is the first of its kind to be provided by any educational board in the country. In fact, CBSE provides multi-pronged counselling in two phases during the year. For the second consecutive year, the Interactive Voice Response System -- a unique effort to provide tele-counselling -- will be available on local dial facilities within Delhi and Mumbai for the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) subscribers. This service will run on a 10-digit number 1250111102 on MTNL network, while for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited this service will run on a seven-digit number 1250102. Students dialling from Karnataka, West Bengal, Punjab, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana will have to dial 95 plus the STD code of Bangalore, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Ahmedabad, Indore, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad and Gurgaon plus 1250102. CBSE will be operating both its website www.cbse.nic.in and icon Helpline to provide all kind of information related to examinations and help students in dealing with exam related anxiety.
