BANGALORE: Five persons, including four of a family, from Bangalore were killed on the spot and a 12-year-old girl injured when their car collided with a lorry at Pannappatti village, 40 km from Salem in Tamil Nadu on Sunday. According to reports reaching here, the family was on its way back from Trichy. The names of the dead were given as Dharmalingam (40), his wife Parameswari (38); their relatives Thillakarasi (62) and Balasubramanian (24); and the car driver, Sekhar (23). They were residents of Marathahalli here. Dharmalingam's daughter Deepa has been admitted in a private nursing home near Salem, according to the police. There was a traffic hold-up on the National Highway 7 following the accident. The police and the Fire Services used a crane to remove the two vehicles off the road. The road was cleared for traffic after two hours.
