Boys excel in Plus-Two exams in Dindigul district

Girls perform well in Theni district with 79.5 pass per cent


DINDIGUL : While boys excelled in Dindigul district, girls performed well in Theni district in higher secondary examinations. Pass percentage in Dindigul was 78 per cent and 79.5 per cent in Theni this year.

Palani educational district bagged two top ranks leaving one to Dindigul educational district. Matriculation school students captured all top three district ranks. I.N.I. Krishna Kumar, a student of Akshaya Matric Higher Secondary School, Palani emerged district topper with 1,155 marks. K. Rajesh, a student of the same school, was third district rank holder with 1,147 marks.

D. Sahithya, a student of St. Joseph's MHSS, Dindigul, was the second district topper with 1,151 marks. All the district toppers wanted to become engineers.

While M. Vijayalakshmi (1, 122 marks) of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Oddanchatram, was the top ranker among government schools, J. Priyadharshini (1,146 marks) of St. Joseph's Girls Higher Secondary School, Dindigul, was the district topper among government-aided schools.

Cent per cent results

Eight schools — seven in Palani and one in Dindigul educational districts — out of 111 schools in the district only achieved cent per cent results. St. Joseph's MHSS, Dindigul, JRC HSS Kothayam, Sankara MHSS, Kodaikanal, Sankar Ponnar HSS, Thummalapatti, Akshaya MHSS, Palani, Devi MHSS, Palani, Vivekanandha MHSS, Ayakudi and Bats MHSS, Oddanchatram, achieved cent per cent results. Highest pass percentage among government schools was 89 per cent.


Theni

Girls outsmarted boys as they bagged two top ranks in HSC exams this year. On the whole, 83 per cent girls and 76 per cent boys passed in the district.

Theni Melapettai Hindu Nadar Uravin Murai MHSS produced two district toppers — V.S. Nesa Priyadharshini and S. Revathi — who bagged the first and second top ranks with 1,157 and 1,148 marks respectively. V. Senrayan of Nagamani Ammal MHSS, Cumbum, was the third rank holder with 1,135 marks.


About 75 per cent of students in Uthamapalayam educational district and 83 per cent in Periakulam educational district passed. Of the total 9,688 students, including 5,303 boys and 4,385 girls, 7,648 students, including 4,019 boys and 3,629 girls, passed in the exams.

Government Higher Secondary School, Surulipatti, was the only school that achieved cent per cent result in the district. 10 students of this school appeared for the examinations.
