Unidentified miscreants abducted six personnel of the Sashtra Seema Bal (SSB) and killed a civilian in Northern Assam's Darrang district on Sunday night.
Confirming the incident, Assam Inspector-General of Police (Special Branch) Khagen Sharma told The Hindu that the police were yet to get a lead. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the abduction so far.
The body of the slain civilian was recovered from a paddy field at Baudidam village close to the India-Bhutan border on Monday morning. He has been identified as Babul Kalita of Mora-Dhansiri village under Routa police outpost.
