Erudite scholar

P.T.R. Palanivel Rajan, who passed away on May 20, was one of the best Speakers the Tamil Nadu Assembly ever had. He was known for his wit and humour and was an erudite scholar too. He handled the business of the House so well that he earned the praise of all, including the Opposition.

K. Pradeep,
Chennai

Palanivel Rajan's death is a tragedy. Respected across the political spectrum, Palanivel Rajan, as Speaker during 1996-2001, was a role model.

R.T. Narayanan,
Chennai
