Special Correspondent
Basseterre: Over the last ten months Yuvraj Singh has excelled. The left-hander has matured as a person and a batsman and this maturity is evident in the poise and thought with which he fields questions these days. "We lost the game. I'm responsible for it," he said with refreshing candour. "If at all anyone has to be blamed, it's me." To admit as much not only reveals character but a readiness to be accountable. He was, of course, referring to his missing a Dwayne Bravo slower ball with two to get after he had raised India from the dead. What was he feeling as he sank to his haunches that day? "I didn't know what actually happened. Didn't know what to say or what to do. Shattered. But, that's cricket; you move on and make sure the next time you are in the same situation you don't make the same mistake." What did he tell Munaf Patel before the penultimate over? "I just told him to block or take a single, and that I will get 12 off the last over. I told him not to hit anything in the air. I was sure I could pull it off because I've done it in the past."
