New Delhi: A city court on Tuesday sentenced two men to imprisonment for life for murdering a Central Reserve Police Force personnel and seriously injuring his brother three years ago. Additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Tiwari also imposed a fine of Rs 12,000 on Manoj and Rs 10,000 on Sunder finding them guilty of fatally shooting Harpal Singh and attempting to kill his brother Gaze Singh, under relevant sections of the IPC. However the third accused Bhupender has been acquitted by the court. The incident occurred on January 7, 2003 in Trilokpuri area of east Delhi when the two convicts demanded money from Harpal. They were known to the victims and a few days earlier had forcibly taken Rs 100 from Harpal to purchase liquor.
