HYDERABAD: Two persons attacked a trader with knives during daytime while he was coming out of a bank building on Osmangunj main road after withdrawing Rs. 2.5 lakhs on Monday. The businessman Bheem Shankar, 29, sustained knife injuries on his face and shoulder and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors said he is out of danger. A resident of Kishangunj, the trader had withdrawn cash from Karur Vysya bank located on the first floor of a building that had no security guard. "He was coming down with the cash bag around 1.30 p.m. when two youngsters wearing caps intercepted him on the staircase and tried to grab the bag," East Zone DCP B. Balakrishna said. Shankar raised an alarm and began hurrying upstairs when they began attacking him. Despite the bleeding injuries on his face and shoulder, the trader managed to run into the bank shouting for help. The attackers ran down, joined their accomplice waiting on a motorcycle and the trio sped away towards Afzalgunj. Police recovered a bag left behind by the offenders in which a notebook and a dagger were found. Police suspect the offenders are from Hyderabad and that they have a criminal record. Sultanbazar ACP Ch. Ramchander accused the bank management of neglecting security aspect by not posting a guard. "There were no secret cameras inside the bank either," he said.
