Police arrest 31 persons, recover property worth Rs. 73 lakh

BANGALORE: In the last two weeks, the city police solved 65 cases, arrested 31 persons and recovered property worth Rs. 73 lakh from them.

Police Commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh on Tuesday returned some of the recovered material and motorcycles to their respective owners. Mr. Singh also presented some policemen with cash awards and certificates.

Among those arrested by the police include eight members of a gang, one of whom who had escaped from police custody, involved in a case of murder of Rama in Girinagar police station limits in January.

The Central Crime Branch police had arrested Arasiah (29), Vijayendra (23), Ananda (29), Shivakumar (24), Michel (21), Manjunatha (25), Sudhakar (22) and Srinivasa Gowda (32) when they were allegedly planning to attack Jali Venkatesh near Hoskerehalli.

A case was registered with the Upparpet police.

Burglaries

The criminal intelligence squad had arrested three persons and recovered from themjewellery worth Rs. 25 lakh. The accused Dorai (28), Babu (33), and Shashi (29) were involved in 14 cases of burglary.

The Fraser Town police had arrested four persons and recovered Rs. 12 lakh, two wristwatches, two gold ornaments and mobile phones.

The K.R. Puram police had arrested Velu (25) of Subbaiahana Palya and Javed Khan (25) of Bharatinagar for their alleged involvement in burglaries in Kalyana Nagar and Banaswadi police station limits and recovered from them articles worth Rs. 5 lakh.

Recovered

Tracing the call made by an advocate, who had bought a stolen mobile phone, the Vijayanagar police arrested three persons allegedly involved in nine case of burglary reported in Basaveshwara Nagar and Vijayanagar police station limits and recovered gold and silver ornaments, electronic goods and other articles worth Rs. 15 lakh.

Motorcycle thefts

The K.G. Halli police had arrested Yousuf (29), Wasim Akram (19) and Syed Wasin and recovered from them 23 motorcycles stolen from K.H. Halli, Hebbal, Vidyaranyapura, D.J. Halli, Sanjaynagar, Magadi Road and Banaswadi. While the police returned the keys of the vehicles to 20 owners, they were yet to find the owners of three motorcycles.

Valuables seized

The north division police had arrested seven persons allegedly involved in snatching chains and mobile phones and recovered from them goods worth Rs. 1.80 lakh.

The Sriramapuram police had arrested Rudresh (23) of Dharwad and recovered from him five gold chains. The Nandini Layout police had arrested Shankar (21) and Ravi (20) and recovered two gold chains and a mobile phone. The Yeshwantapur police had arrested Venkata Hanumaiah (18) and recovered stolen articles worth Rs. 25,000.

The central division police had arrested three persons and recovered 24 mobile phones and electronic gadgets worth Rs. 1.18 lakh from them.
