Two women assaulted, cash jewellery stolen

BANGALORE: Two women were assaulted and valuables and cash, in all worth Rs. 2.5 lakh, were stolen from the house of a software engineer in Kaigondanahalli in Koramangala police station limits on Monday night.

According to police, some men wearing masks entered the house of Basavaraj by breaking open a door. When they started searching for valuables, Basavaraj's wife Kavita (32), his mother Kantamma (55) tried to stop the burglary. One of the miscreants hit Kavita with an iron rod on her head. Kantamma was pushed down to the floor. The miscreants, who spoke Kannada and Telugu, went away with gold jewellery and Rs. 25,000. Following a complaint, the police came to the spot and took Kavita and Kantamma to St. John's Hospital. The condition of Kantamma is said to be serious.

Chain snatching

Two motorcycle-borne men relieved Manjula (50), a resident of Annapurneshwari Layout, of her gold chain in Jnanabharati police station limits on Monday night.

The incident occurred near BDA shopping complex when she was returning home with her daughter.
