NEW DELHI: In the wake of the Bill passed in Parliament granting a one-year moratorium on sealing and demolitions in the Capital, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Tuesday de-sealed 561 shops running from residential areas. Being the first day of the de-sealing exercise, much time was taken up in working out modalities to carry out the drive at the zonal level. The MCD teams fanned out in the 11 civic zones and began de-sealing shops in residential areas. Areas and roads covered during the drive included Idgah Road, Qutab Road, Sadar Thana Road, Darya Ganj, Lajpat Nagar, South Extension, Arya Samaj Road, Paschim Vihar, Saraswati Vihar, Pushpanjali, Pitampura, Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, Seelampur, Vikas Marg, Greater Kailash, Rama Road, Mansarovar Garden, Tilak Nagar and Shakti Nagar. "The drive will gain momentum from Wednesday," said the MCD spokesperson.
