New Delhi: The Union Government has reconstituted the Apex Committee for the 2010 Commonwealth Games to be held here. The committee, headed by the Minister for Panchayati Raj and Youth Affairs and Sports, Mani Shankar Aiyar, will have, among others, the former Union Minister, Ram Niwas Mirdha, President of the Volleyball Federation of India, Sivanthi Adityan (subject to his confirmation), Chairman and MD of ICICI, K.V. Kamath and President, NASSOCOM, Kiran Karnik, as members. The committee will have the over-riding power and responsibility for overseeing and co-ordinating the Games and its chairman will have the power to call for such information as he deems fit.
