Says officials have omitted hundreds of names in several villages

NELLORE: The district unit of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) alleged that the administration had indulged in irregularities in the enrolment of voters list.

"Several officials, who are hand-in-glove with ruling party leaders, have deliberately omitted hundreds of names in several villages across the district.

Besides, they have included names of those who have not been staying in the respective villages," TDP senior leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy told reporters on Wednesday.

Citing a few instances, the TDP leader claimed that names of all family members of Assistant Commercial Tax Officer (ACTO), K Mohan Das who is working at Chittoor had been enrolled at North Rajupalem. In another case,

Kovvur MLA P Srinivasula Reddy's brother __ P Venkatrami Reddy has been staying in Hyderabad for over 20 years, but names of his family members were enrolled in the same village.

Rally, dharna planned

Against this backdrop, the TDP will conduct coordination meetings in all villages to expose alleged irregularities in the enrolment of voters list on June 1, 2 and 3. Later, it would also hold a rally and dharna here on June 5, he said.

After the press conference, the party leaders headed by Chandramohan Reddy submitted a memorandum to District Collector M Ravi Chandra on the same issue.

Later talking to reporters, the Collector said that he would ask officials to conduct an enquiry on TDP leaders' allegations.

" I will take exemplary action against officials if any of them found guilty," Mr. Ravi Chandra said.
