VISAKHAPATNAM: An Armed Reserve constable fired in the air shouting slogans against an Armed Reserve Inspector at the Police Parade Grounds here on Wednesday evening. He was immediately overpowered by officials and other police personnel present there. A case under attempt to murder under Section 307 was booked against him by the Two Town police. He was arrested and sent to remand, according to the police. Constable Ammoru, who was suspended earlier for more than three years, shouted slogans asking Inspector D. Narayana Rao, to go back and opened one round of fire in the air with the 9 mm carbine he was carrying. The inspector joined duty in the morning on being transferred from Srikakulam. Ammoru, who was a driver in the Armed Reserve, was not only disrespectful towards officials while on duty but was used to abusing them, the police said in a statement. He was suspended on July 9, 2002, on the basis of a report submitted by Mr. Narayana Rao. His suspension had been revoked later and he joined duty in February, 2006.
