Physically challenged children visit ship expo

It was a lifetime experience for 46 physically challenged children when they were taken around m.v. Doulos -- the 90-year-old ship on which a book exhibition is being held.

Under the aegis of Sramajeevi Charitable Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre, the children had a lot of fun by browsing the books on display in the ship.

They were accompanied by Assistant Director, Disabled Welfare.

The kids were moved when the crew volunteered to guide a 90 per cent orthopaedically disabled person Rameswara Rao with a on-board wheel chair.

Liquor seized

The Excise Police have seized 24 foreign liquor bottles worth Rs. 50,000 being carried without proper permission and arrested one person. A team led by Circle Inspector Ch. Tirupathi Naidu found one M. Sansayya Gupta carrying the bottles by a scooter at Pandimetta. He was produced before a magistrate and sent to remand.ENDS

HIV/AIDS awareness meeting held

Mahila Vikasa Samstha on Wednesday organised a HIV/AIDS awareness meeting as a part of ASHA-II programme at Burujupeta. Visakhapatnam I MLA Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, DM&HO Jagannadham, district Nodal Officer for AIDS Rajendra Prasad and samstha project director K.N. Kondala Rao spoke.

Medical Officer's visit

M.S. Raju, Chief Medical Officer of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, on Tuesday visited Satyasainagar near the Port Quarters to spread awareness on prevention of viral fevers.

Eight kg of meet being sold after unauthorised slaughter was seized and buried.
