HYDERABAD: Four unidentified persons broke into the house of a doctor at Banjara Hills Road No. 12 during daytime on Wednesday after attacking the watchman and took away property worth lakhs of rupees. The doctor --Sukhesh Reddy and his wife Usha -- live abroad and have employed two persons -- Ramesh and Babar -- to guard the house located in Mithilanagar.

The two guards come to duty on rotation basis. On Wednesday, Babar sent his close relative Raheem Basha for duty since he had some work.

Complaint lodged

Since the house owners were abroad, Mithilanagar Welfare Society office-bearer Prabhakar lodged a complaint with the Banjara Hills police about the robbery in the evening.

According to the complaint, four persons went to the doctor's house, threatened Raheem Basha with knives and allegedly beat him up when he resisted. After tying him with ropes, the miscreants entered the house by breaking open the main door lock.

Later, they also broke open an almirah and the wardrobe in the bedroom, ransacked the entire house and took away everything they could lay their hands on. The watchman reportedly told the neighbours that he managed to free himself after the offenders left. Detectives reportedly took Basha into custody and grilled him till late in the night.

The value of the stolen property was not yet known since the house owner was away. CLUEs team, fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs were pressed into service. From Banjara Hills Detective Sub-Inspector Madhu Mohan Reddy to DCP Amit Garg, none responded despite repeated attempts to reach them on their official mobile phones.
