End the strike

The continuing strike by medical students and doctors, despite the assurances from the Prime Minister and the Human Resource Development Minister, is causing extreme hardship to patients. Many of the strikers' fears have been allayed by the Government and they should end the stir immediately in the public interest.

All the arguments for and against reservation are more in the nature of splitting hairs and showing off the analysts' wisdom. What people are missing is the broader picture. If India wants to emerge as a technological superpower, no section should be deprived of education and quality should not be diluted. In that sense, what the striking doctors are fighting for is correct.
