News Analysis
A reader says that in "Plutonium-based plant at Kalpakkam to be ready by 2010" (May 24, 2006), it states that by 2008, seven reactors would be ready at a cost of Rs. 5 crore each, which is incorrect. It should be Rs. 5 crore for a MW of installed capacity. In the graphic "World Cup history competing nations" ("Sport, May 20, 2006), a reader says that the name of Uruguay had been left out. Uruguay, the first World Cup host nation (1930), won the football World Cup in 1930 and 1950, he says. The Sports Desk clarifies that the graphic relates to the records of the teams participating in this year's World Cup in Germany, where Uruguay will not be present. The article "Spain looks to regain its lost identity" ("Sport", May 22, 2006) has an error, says a reader. While the article quotes and the caption of the accompanying photograph refers to Liverpool midfielder Luis Garcia, the photograph is that of Espanyol striker Luis Garcia. For the record, the full name of the Liverpool midfielder is Luis Javier Garcia Sanz, he says. The reader is correct. It is the policy of The Hindu to correct significant errors as soon as possible.
