MADURAI: A new strategy to improve Plus Two results in schools is being worked out in the district following the four per cent dip in pass percentage this year. Officials in the Department of School Education here told The Hindu on Thursday that a new component of conducting periodical unit tests in all Government/aided schools and `constant reviewing' of students through individual focus is to be taken up from the beginning of the academic year. The new Collector, T. Udhaychandran, who has just assumed charge, has asked the Chief Educational Officer to immediately present a report on the Plus Two results and performance of schools in the district. While the overall pass percentage declined by four per cent as compared to last year, the district registered 81 per cent pass with major failures coming from chemistry and biology.
