`No cases of Chikungunya fever'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
No cases of Chikungunya fever, a viral fever spread by Aedes Aegypti species of mosquitoes, have so far been reported in Kerala, the health authorities have said.
However, all District Medical Officers have been alerted about the fact that Chikungunya fever has been reported from Warrangal in Andhra Pradesh and some parts of Karnataka, the Additional Director of Health Services (Public Health), M. K. Jeevan, has said.
No public health alert has been issued so far but all local bodies and residents' associations have been asked to step up mosquito control measures.
No samples have so far been tested positive for Chikungunya fever. Samples will continue to be sent to Pune for testing.
