AHMEDABAD : Both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the Opposition Congress in Gujarat have supported the decision of multiplexes association and the cinema theatres association not to screen the latest Aamir Khan starrer `Fanaa' in the State. Though the decision has disappointed many movie-goers anxiously waiting for the release of the film, it was taken to "teach a lesson" to the film hero for his "uncalled for support" to the recent anti-Narmada dam movement by the Narmada Bachao Andolan. The cinema theatre owners were also worried that the release of the film, featuring Aamir Khan, could invite the wrath of BJP and Congress members similar to the situation they faced when `Rang De Basanti' was screened. Both the BJP and Congress spokesmen said all the parties were committed to the construction of the Narmada dam and any attempt to scuttle it "in the name of rehabilitation" could not be "tolerated." They said the State was also committed to the proper rehabilitation of the oustees, but this should not mean stopping the work.
