Shops de-sealed

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Thursday de-sealed a total of 1,321 shops operating from residential areas across the Capital as part of its ongoing de-sealing drive.

A total of 4,105 shops have been de-sealed by the civic body so far.

The major areas covered during the drive on Thursday included Sadar Thana Road, Idgah Road, Esplanade Road, Hamilton Road, Burari Road, Mall Road, Jahangirpuri, BBM Road, Tughlakabad, Mathura Road-Badarpur, Anandmai Marg, Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, Patel Road, G.L. Goswami Marg, Faiz Road, Railway Crossing, Nangloi to Najafgarh.

Haj forms from Saturday

NEW DELHI: Distribution of application forms for Haj-2006 will start this coming Saturday at the Delhi State Haj Committee office on Asaf Ali Road.

According to a release, forms will also be made available in all the 70 Assembly constituencies of the Capital. The last date for submission of forms at the Committee's office is June 27.

Along with the form, the applicant will have to attach an attested photocopy of the election identity card, 15 photographs -- taken against a white background, blood group certificate and a draft for Rs.10,700 in favour of the Delhi State Haj Committee.

Investor camp planned

NEW DELHI: CNBC-TV18 together with Angel Broking will organise "Investor Camp 2006" at Hotel Intercontinental Grand here on Saturday. The camp is aimed at helping investors master the new market with a host of new tools and strategies.

In a statement, CNBC-TV18 said the camp would give investors an opportunity to learn the intricacies of technical analysis and capitalise on the current market opportunities through various investment options like stocks, bonds, mutual funds, insurance, real estate and commodities.

NCC team to visit Singapore

NEW DELHI: A National Cadet Corps (NCC) delegation comprising two officers and 10 cadets will travel to Singapore for a two-week camp under the Youth Exchange Programme beginning May 29.

The Indian cadets will be joined by those from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Philippines and Singapore. They will participate in activities like camping, weapons firing, canoeing, powerboat handling, scuba diving.

BSF officer scales Mt Everest

NEW DELHI: The Additional Deputy Inspector-General of Border Security Force, S.C. Negi, scaled Mount Everest on Wednesday, becoming the oldest Indian to conquer the peak.

In a statement issued here, BSF said the 57-year old climber was the leader of the 14-member mountaineering team. Six members of the team had scaled the peak this past weekend.
