Second-year engineering admissions

Sale of applications from May 29 Candidates will be called for counselling during the first week of July.

CHENNAI: Application forms for admission to second year B.E./B.Tech courses offered in government, government-aided and self-financing Engineering colleges for diploma holders under the lateral entry scheme for the year 2006-2007 will be issued from May 29.

The forms, costing Rs.100 (Free for SC/ST candidates on producing attested photocopy of community certificates) will be available at the office of the Directorate of Technical Education in Chennai. They will also be available at the Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology, Vellore; Government Colleges of Engineering in Salem, Bargur, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli; Government Polytechnic College, Tiruchi; Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi; P.S.G. College of Technology, Coimbatore; Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore and Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai.

Payment towards the cost of the application form is to be made through a demand draft drawn in favour of `The Secretary, Second Year Engineering Admissions 2006, ACCET, Karaikudi,' payable at Karaikudi, dated not earlier than May 26, 2006. Candidates are also required to enclose a D.D. for Rs. 20 towards registration feealong with the filled in application. The last date for receipt of application forms is June 15.

To get the form by post, a self-addressed envelope (35"x 26") stamped to the value of Rs. 50, should be sent with a requisition letter and the D.D. The cover must be superscribed `Requisition for Application Form for Admission to Second Year Engineering Admissions 2006.' Candidates will be called for counselling during the first week of July and allotment of colleges and branches will be done following merit and communal reservation criteria, according to a press release.
