VIJAYAWADA: The Nuzvid police arrested Sheik Basha, 55 alias David Paul on the charge of cheating people by selling fake currency notes on Thursday. The police seized fake currency, rudrakshas, idols of Hindu Gods, coins and dog nails, which he claimed as those of a tiger. The police said that Basha, a native of Potireddipalli in Nuzvid, converted to Christianity and re-christened himself as David Paul. He allegedly sold fake currency of Turkey, Sri Lanka and Arab countries, saying that he was getting foreign funds for religious campaigns. One Shiek Abdul Munsif of Nuzvid bought a currency noteof an Arabic country, by paying Rs. 1,000. However, he found it to be fake one and lodged a police complaint.
