Man crushed to death

NEW DELHI: A 49-year-old Secretariat Security Force personnel was killed when an overspeeding Blueline bus ran over him at ITO in Central Delhi on Thursday. The driver is absconding.

According to the police, the incident took place around 2-45 p.m. when Dalbir Singh, who was posted at Patiala High Courts, was crossing Indraprastha Marg near the Police Headquarters.

One held in murder case

NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old man has been arrested by the Special Staff of the South-West Delhi police for his alleged involvement in a murder case at Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. A country-made firearm was recovered from his possession.

The accused, Anis Beg, was arrested from a DDA park at Mayapuri Enclave on Wednesday. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to having murdered Shaheed Beg on May 13 last year, at the instance of his son, Nazeem Beg. Nazeem allegedly got his father murdered as he was selling a piece of land against his will.

Arrested for evading excise

NEW DELHI: Two officials of DTTDC wine shop at Karol Bagh have been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi Government on charges of evading excise duty. According to an Anti-Corruption branch official, the marketing assistant, Sanjay Nagar, of the outlet was arrested on Tuesday, after which the shop in-charge, Bharat Kumar Soni, was picked up on Wednesday. The two have been remanded to judicial custody till June 2.

`Criminal' held

NEW DELHI: An inter-State criminal carrying a reward of Rs. 5,000 on his head has been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police from near a luxury hotel in South-West Delhi. The police have recovered a country-made firearm from his possession.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Special Cell, Sub-Inspector Dharmender Kumar received a tip-off that Rishiraj would come near Hyatt Hotel on a motorcycle on Wednesday. Subsequently, a team laid a trap and rounded up the suspect. During interrogation, he identified himself as Rishiraj and allegedly confessed to his involved in cases of robbery, murder and attempt-to-murder.

Mr Kumar said Rishiraj had been declared a proclaimed offender in several cases.

Auto theft cases solved

NEW DELHI: With the arrest of two persons, the South Delhi police claim to have solved 40 cases of auto theft. The police said as many as 11 stolen vehicles and a button-actuated knife have also been recovered from the possession of the duo.

The accused, 35-year-old Israel and 42-year-old Mobin Khan, both residents of Bharatpur in Rajasthan had been involved in the racket for quite some time. While Israel was an expert, Mobin was a registered medical practitioner who had been running a shop in his native place, Garhi Mewal. However, he has been accused of making forged documents of stolen vehicles with the help of his brother Tahir and son Zaheer, and disposing them off in various parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

PFC pays dividend

NEW DELHI: The public sector Power Finance Corporation has paid a third interim dividend of Rs. 166.29 crores to the Union Government for the year 2005-06. The cheque was presented to Union Power Minister S.K. Shinde by PFC Chairman and MD V.K. Garg at a ceremony here. This dividend is in addition to the Rs. 195.24-crore interim dividend already paid.
