Panel on roads submits report to court

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The expert committee set up by the Karnataka High Court to look into the status of roads in Bangalore, is reported to have submitted its fourth report to the court on Thursday.

The committee, which is concerned about the slow progress of road upgradation work under the Karnataka Municipal Reforms Project, was reportedly concerned about the slow pace under the two ongoing road development projects in the city.

Captain Raja Rao, who heads the committee, had earlier disclosed to The Hindu the committee's observation about the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) not following the exact procedure of road upgradation.

The expert committee had pointed out that lax monitoring of road works by the engineering staff of the BMP had led to the bad state of roads.

It had also pointed out that the engineers had no "clear-cut" instructions on preparing estimates, maintaining and monitoring road works.
