This Day That Age
The Government of India have decided upon certain procedure to be followed regarding the disposal of the presents made to officers of the Central and State Governments by the Soviet leaders, the King of Saudi Arabia and other foreign dignitaries who visited India during the last few months. The presents which are symbolic in nature and not of any practical use, such as the sword and the ceremonial robe presented by the King of Saudi Arabia, and those of trivial value can be retained by the recipients. For this purpose, the limit of the value has been raised to Rs. 200. With respect to the presents not covered by the above two categories, the officers who have received such presents should deposit them at the Government treasuries. The recipients, however, have the option to purchase them from the treasuries at a price.
