Letters to the Editor
It is now clear that anybody with a difference of opinion will be treated as an "enemy" by the BJP in Gujarat. The BJP's justification of the ban on Fanaa is probably its "way" of telling the world that it will not let anybody talk or act against its idea of the State's development. The manner in which this "way" which stifles freedom of speech and expression, restrains economic liberty for a commercial product to be sold lawfully in Gujarat, violates the individual liberty of Gujaratis with respect to watching a film, and challenges the authority and supremacy of the state in fulfilling its essential responsibilities has evolved is a matter of concern.
Gaurav Dua,
J.J. Bennett,
The BJP must now look to retrieve the situation. The ban on the Aamir Khan-starrer may alienate some of the younger generation of Gujaratis from the party.
Nitin G. Gokarn,
