Good spell by Abbas
Abbas Ali's six for eight helped Luminous beat Master Thunder CC by 58 runs and enter the final of the Luminous Trophy district-level cricket tournament in Ramanathapuram on Friday. The scores (semifinals): Luminous 133 for six in 20 overs beat Master Thunder CC 75 in 13.2 overs (Balamurugan 42, Abbas Ali six for eight). Periapattinam CC 124 for seven in 20 overs lost to Rainbow CC `A' 125 for six in 18 overs.
Indian Bank in last four
Indian Bank stormed into the semifinals of the K.N. Subbraj memorial Trophy all-India hockey tournament with a 2-0 victory over MEG (Bangalore), in Kovilpati on Friday. After a barren first half, Indian Bank took the lead in the 43rd minute with a penalty corner conversion by Alfred Asir. Thirumalvalavan scored the second goal in the 65th minute, again off a penalty corner. Other results: KSP 3 (Chitan Krishna, Pradeep, Sundar) bt S. Rly.
