Pleas rejected

ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad High Court on Friday rejected applications by the Uttar Pradesh Government and the State Election Commission seeking postponement of elections for nagar panchayats and nagar nigams in the State.

Passing the order, a two-judge Bench observed that through an order dated December 22, 2005, the Court had directed that elections be held within six months, which is ``sufficient''. - PTI
