CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Friday that the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme would prove a milestone in bringing about a change in the country's rural areas.
Speaking at a convention on implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme here, he gave credit
Mahendragarh and Sirsa districts were chosen for implementation of this scheme. An unmistakable message had been sent to the poor and weaker sections of society that there was a party that cared for them.
He said that all necessary steps for the registration of households, issuance of job cards, applications for work, identification of the Shelf of Projects, providing work to those demanding employment, preparation of muster rolls, training awareness and setting up of administrative infrastructure had been completed in both the districts.
About 76,760 households had been registered under the scheme and out of these, 9,533 had demanded jobs and 5,765 had been provided jobs.
