Local party unit to honour Jaipal Reddy and Ajay Maken

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee will organise a rally at Talkatora Indoor Stadium here this coming Monday to thank Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi for saving lakhs of residents from being displaced and putting an end to the sealing and demolition drives in the Capital.

At a press conference here, DPCC president Ram Babu Sharma said the local party unit would honour both Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy and Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken for taking the initiative to put an end to the sealing and demolition exercise.

The party would also honour senior Congress MLA S.C. Vats, who was also a member of the Tejinder Khanna Committee, for coming up with valuable suggestions.

Stating that the Congress had fulfilled its promise made to the Capital's citizens on the twin issues of demolition and sealing, Mr. Sharma said it was due to the personal interest taken by the Prime Minister and Ms. Gandhi that the issue had been resolved to the satisfaction of all.
