Woman held on charge of killing son

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A mother allegedly murdered her son vexed with the latter's behaviour of frequently subjecting her to torture in drunken condition at Saroornagar after Thursday midnight.

The Saroornagar police took the woman -- Kamalamma -- into custody while her elder sister Sarojini and the latter's son Ramesh, who allegedly assisted the former in the killing, are absconding. Kamalamma's husband died two years ago and since then she had been living with her two sons in a rented house at Srinivasanagar in Saroornagar.

While her eldest son Baba, 22, is an auto-rickshaw driver, the second one is an eighth standard student.

"Baba is a drunkard and used to beat up Kanakamma almost everyday," Saroornagar Inspector S. Rajashekhara Rao said on Friday. Last night, he returned home in an inebriated condition and hit her mother with a rock even as Sarojini and Ramesh tried to pacify him.

According to the Inspector, Kamalamma then decided to kill her son with the help of her two relatives.
