Disinvestment opposed

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India on Friday opposed the move of the United Progressive Alliance Government to disinvest public sector undertakings such as National Aluminium Company and Neyveli Lignite Corporation and said it was in ``violation of the Common Minimum Programme''.

The UPA Government should realise that the PSUs and public sector banking industry and insurance industry were the strength of the country's economy. Making them weak and vulnerable was not in the interest of the country.
