Property tax: BMP centres to remain open tomorrow

BANGALORE:
With May 30 being the last date for paying property tax for the first half year of 2006-2007, the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's four citizen service centres will remain open on Sunday. The centres will function between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., a release says
Eateries closed
Continuing the drive to check unhygienic conditions in commercial food establishments, the BMP's Health officials closed down 16 eateries in the city on Friday. While seven hotels were sealed in the South zone, nine were sealed in the West zone.
The Health officials in the South zone also undertook an intensive cleaning drive in market areas and imposed a fine on several establishments for not keeping their premises clean, the release said. Two establishments were fined Rs. 1,000 each for not maintaining hygiene.
