De-sealing drive on Day 4

New Delhi: The MCD on Friday de-sealed 2,252 commercial properties which were sealed as part of a Supreme Court-ordered drive against unauthorised use of residential premises.

The civic body de-sealed 1,211 properties in Central zone, 304 in Najafgarh, 241 in Rohini, 178 in Shahdara South, 96 in West, 62 in Shahdara North, nine in South and four in City.

It has completed de-sealing action in City and Sadar Paharganj zones.

Jamia student killed

NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old man studying at Jamia Millia Islamia was killed when a trailer rammed into his motorcycle near Surajkund on Friday. Pervez Alam, a resident of Okhla, died on the spot. The driver of the trailer Dharmendra has been arrested.

In another tragic accident near Badarpur Police Station, a 19-year-old boy was killed when a truck hit him while he was crossing the road.

Japanese honour for FICCI chief

NEW DELHI: The Ambassador of Japan, Yasukuni Enoki, on Friday hosted a ceremony to celebrate the presentation of "the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon" to Amit Mitra, Secretary-General of the FICCI.

The decoration was conferred on Dr. Mitra on April 29 by the Emperor of Japan in recognition of his outstanding contribution towards strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.

Mr. Enoki said Dr. Mitra as FICCI Secretary-General since 1994 has played a great role in strengthening ties between Japanese and Indian business communities by initiating and organising numerous business meeting and various events.
