Insurgent gunned down

IMPHAL: An unidentified insurgent was gunned down in an encounter at early hours on Saturday by the personnel of 4 Assam Rifles, according to a military spokesman.

The Assam Rifles personnel were patrolling a village bridle path at Heingang near Imphal.Some suspects came that side and when challenged they opened fire at the personnel. In the retaliatory fire one youth was killed. A .38 pistol with some rounds of ammunition and a wireless set were recovered.
