MYSORE: Third Additional District and Sessions Judge C.G. Hungund has stressed the need to adopt a humane approach towards juvenile offenders, if efforts towards reforming them should succeed. Speaking after inaugurating a day-long workshop on the "Juvenile Justice Act 2000" organised by the Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL) and the Women and Child Development Department on the Mysore Zilla Panchayat premises here on Saturday, Mr. Hungund appealed to officials to bear in mind that juvenile offenders were not criminals. Police personnel should ensure that juvenile offenders were not scared, he said. Mr. Hungund said Juvenile Justice Boards should be set up in all districts.Advocate Baburajsaid the Child Welfare Committeeshould realise its powers and crack down on child labour.
