Optometrists plan strike

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Government Optometrists' Association will begin a `non-cooperation strike' from July 1 demanding creation of more posts, better pay scales, setting up of an optometrists' registration council and a licensing system for opening optician's shops.

Association general secretary R. Rajesh at a press conference here on Sunday said that even though the problems of optometrists had been brought to attention of successive Health Ministers over the past five years, the Government had done nothing to address them.
