CHENNAI: The third edition of the MetroPlus Lifestyle Show will feature 250 exhibitors in an area of 1.4 lakh square feet. The show, South India's largest consumer exhibition, will feature a variety of brands in the automobile, electronics, luxury products, jewellery, interior decoration, textiles and other sectors. The exhibition will be open from June 1 to 5 at the Chennai Trade Centre.

Announcing the launch of the MetroPlus Lifestyle Show 2006, L.V. Navaneeth, The Hindu General Manager (Advertisement-Marketing) said the show was a wonderful platform for advertisers to interact directly with newspaper's readers. "The MetroPlus Lifestyle show is our centre piece event, the one we launched first. We look at it as a vehicle for communication with our younger audience, which is the segment MetroPlus reaches out to."

Thanking the sponsors for their sustained support, he said the MetroPlus Lifestyle show would be held in six venues this year. "This is a reflection of the positive manner in which brands perceive the event," he said.

On behalf of presenting sponsor Samsung V.L. Narayan, General Manager (South), said the fact that his company had participated in the event three times in a row was a reflection of the confidence and the commitment that Samsung had in the Lifestyle Show. "The exhibition not only complements our products but also translates into a good number of sales," he said.

K. Sivakumar, Managing Partner, RmKV, an associate sponsor, announced that his company would hold a contest during the show to promote its special saree, woven with more than 1,35,000 differently-coloured threads. The person who guesses the exact number of colours in the saree, which will be exhibited at the RmKV stall, will be given a unique prize: a saree designed with his own choice of colours.

Kesar Gift Mart's CEO D. Suresh Jain said the show presented a good platform for the launch of his company. He said his company, the first in the country to offer complete corporate gift solutions (anything from Rs. 5 to Rs. 5 lakhs), was happy to be associated with the show as an associate sponsor.

Another associate sponsor, Gijantali Group, India's largest jewellery retailers with brands such as D'damas, Asmi and Nakshtra, expressed happiness that the show had extended its reach to showcase jewellery in a big way. Anuj Rakyan, vice-president (jewellery division) said South India was an important market for his company, which is looking at the gold jewellery market aggressively.

Usha Periasamy, Brand Manager, Classic Polo, the well-known brand with products in the men's apparel range, said the show was a win-win situation for advertisers and organisers. More important, it was a great place to interact with the consumer, who is the ultimate boss of all brands, she said.

The MetroPlus Lifestyle show will also offer entertainment to customers in the form of popular bands and visits by well-known personalities in the city.
