CHENNAI: The second batch of the diploma course in conversational Hindi will commence in July 2006. The course will be taught in English and Tamil. The course fee of Rs. 600 must be paid with the application form by demand draft drawn in favour of State Bank of India Officers' Association Institute, Chennai, payable at Chennai. The fee includes examination and application fee. Printed lessons with instructions and response sheets will be mailed in the first week of every month. Two 90-minutes cassettes on spoken Hindi based on the pattern of lessons along with a companion booklet is available for Rs. 150. The payment includes postage. The lessons will address the fundamental, functional knowledge needed to converse and write to a certain extent in Hindi.
Contact programmes
Five-day contact programmes will be held in Chennai and other centres subject to demand and number of applicants on Sundays or on public holidays. Certificates will be issued to successful candidates. Those unable to write the examination in a particular batch may appear for the examination in the next batch by paying Rs. 50 and complete the course.
