TIRUVALLUR: The Thandurai Pattabiram Consumer Council has called upon the State Transport Corporation, Villupuram, and the State Express Transport Corporation, Chennai, to operate services to Tirupati from Chennai through Ambattur, Avadi and Tiruvallur for the benefit of commuters from Ambattur and Avadi. At present, services to Tirupati were operated through Poonamallee, Tiruvallur and Tiruttani and Red Hills and Kalahasti. Further, train services to Tirupati from Chennai did not have stoppages in between Chennai and Tiruvallur. Thus passengers from Avadi and Ambattur had to proceed either to Chennai or Tiruvallur to board these services, said the chief coordinator of the Council, T. Sadagopan. Stating that private tour operators were enjoying good patronage for their services operated from Ambattur and Avadi, Mr.Sadagopan urged the STC and SETC to introduce bus services to Tirupati via Ambattur and Avadi on a trial basis. But the crew were not able to maintain their trip schedule in view of the traffic, said the spokesperson of the Corporation.
