Lucknow: Dismissing reports of early Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday said the next Vidhan Sabha polls would be held on schedule next year. Talking to PTI here, Mr. Yadav said his Government was firmly in the saddle and would complete its term. He claimed the Samajwadi Party would romp home with two-thirds majority in the next elections. The term of the current Assembly expires in March. Listing the achievements of his nearly three-year-old administration, Mr. Yadav said his Government had initiated welfare measures to every section of society. Special steps had been taken for the welfare of the minority community and its members had been appointed to important posts to ensure that they got a fair share in the administration, he said. The Government had also decided to appoint 5,000 Urdu teachers in primary schools. Mr. Yadav claimed the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh had improved considerably and the decision of the Tata group to invest Rs. 350 crore in the automobile sector bore testimony to this. The State's industrial climate had improved and several big business houses had evinced interest in setting up units in different sectors.
