Centre plans to boost agriculture

Sanctions Rs. 22.66 crores for Haryana

CHANDIGARH: The Union Government has sanctioned Rs. 22.66 crores under the Macro Management Mode System to Haryana for the current financial year to give major fillip to the agriculture sector. An official spokesman said here on Sunday that Rs. 90 lakhs would be spent for establishment and strengthening of pesticides and fertilisers laboratories in the State.

Also, 2.50 lakh quintals of certified seeds of paddy, bajra, barley and wheat would be provided at a subsidy of Rs. 200 per quintal to the farmers. And 206 training camps would be organised to acquaint the farmers with the latest farm technologies. Also, 1,500 zero-tillage machines, 2,200 rotavators, 447 straw reapers, 146 post hole diggers would be provided at a subsidy of 25 per cent.

Moreover, Rs. 1,500 per acre would be given to the farmers as an incentive for diversification of crops from rice cultivation to oil seed and pulses. He said that Haryana ranked a top performing State under the Micro Management Mode. A remarkable achievement was that the Agriculture Department utilised 99 per cent of the funds allocated under the scheme during the last financial year, he added.
