Man found hanging

CHENNAI: A 39-year-old man was found hanging in his quarters inside the Government Estate on Saturday.

According to the police, Lawrence, a mortuary van driver, quarrelled with his wife Pushpalatha.

Apparently, he tied her up and hung himself to death. The police are investigating.

Fatally hit by tanker

Chandrachudan, 80, of Senthil Nagar in Rajamangalam, who was riding a two-wheeler, was fatally hit by an oil tanker on Saturday.

According to the police, the tanker, going from Vadapalani towards Koyambedu on 100 Feet Road, hit the motorcycle from behind at the Nerkundram signal. Chandrachudan succumbed to his injuries at hospital.

The police arrested the tanker driver Somasundaram on charges of rash and negligent driving. The tanker driver was later remanded.
