TIRUNELVELI: Supporting the Union Government's decision to give 27 per cent reservation in institutes of higher education for Other Backward Classes, the central executive committee of Madurai Kamaraj-Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Teachers' Association (MUTA) has decided to conduct a seminar on `reservation policy.' A resolution to this effect was adopted at its meeting held at Madurai on Sunday, the general secretary of MUTA, V. Ponnuraj, said adding that the seminar would be organised at Madurai in June. Another resolution, while welcoming the new State Government, hailed the State Government's decision to have a separate ministry for higher education and nominate K. Ponmudi, a former professor, as Minister for Higher Education. Expressing hope that it would strictly pursue pro-people policies, the meeting thanked the Government for initiating steps to rescind TESMA. Another resolution appealed to the Government to initiate stringent measures to prevent colleges from collecting capitation fee. The meeting decided to conduct its training programme at Kodaikanal from June 8 to 11, Mr. Ponnuraj said.
