Gangster held

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A 36-year-old accomplice of underworld don Babloo Srivastava, who carried a reward of Rs. 20,000 on his head, has been arrested by the Crime Branch at the Archaeological Park in Mehrauli.

A country-made firearm was recovered from his person.

Acting on a tip-off that a criminal wanted in connection with a kidnapping-cum-murder case registered at Punjabi Bagh police station in West Delhi would come to the Archaeological Park, a team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Rakesh Bansal laid a trap and arrested him on Saturday. During interrogation, he identified himself as Chandra Shekhar and confessed to having links with Babloo Srivastava.

According to the police, Shekhar was involved in several cases of crime, including extortion and kidnapping for ransom.
