Everest has been conquered again. A Swiss expedition on May 23 and 24 climbed the mountain which was first conquered almost three years ago by Tenzing and Hillary, who belonged to the British expedition. Four men reached the top. A radio message received by the Nepalese Foreign Office on May 28 said that the Swiss mountaineers also reached the top of the 27,970-foot high Lhotse, highest virgin peak in the Himalayas. The summit was reached by Ernst Schmied and Jurg Marmet on May 23 from Camp Seven on the 26,000-foot high South Col, the joint shoulder of the Everest and Lhotse peaks, Dr. Albert Eggler, the expedition leader, radioed. The following day, two other members of the Swiss expedition - Adolf Reist and Hans von Gunten - climbed to the top.
