Left and oil price hike

The Left parties' decision to oppose the Centre's proposal to effect an increase in the prices of petroleum products is the correct one.

The rise in fuel costs will have a cascading effect on the prices of essential commodities. This, in turn, will gravely affect the lower middle-income group that comprises a large section of our population.

Syed Sultan Mohiddin,
Kadapa, A.P.

A laudable decision from the common man's point of view. The Left's presence in the UPA Government is imperative to crush all anti-people policies.

The Government has to realise that public good is paramount and that no government can progress by ruining it. The Left parties' views, which are truly in favour of the public good, must be given proper weightage.

Aashish Kamal,
New Delhi

The Left parties' proposed stir, like in the past, will be a cry in the wilderness.

The Centre has obviously decided to increase the prices of the petroleum products and it will stick to its decision.

P.S. Krishnan,
Chennai
